This expansion strategy has freed up part of the production capacity at Andoain to supply new customers, diversify the product range and enter new industries. This strategy has resulted in continuous growth in turnover and profits during the last six years. Sales in 2018 exceeded to 85 million euros, and forecasts point to even stronger growth in the next three years, especially in the areas of composites, self-adhesive tapes and other industrial sectors.

Asian Focus

Asian Focus image, Itasa.

Alongside the new openings, ITASA’s focus on Asia remains one of the pillars of its global strategy. Since it began operating in Malaysia in 2016, it has become one of the leading manufacturers of release liners for composites in the region, especially for customers in the prepreg for sporting goods industry. This leading position is due to the development of solutions manufactured without solvents to meet the requirements of Asian producers.

Truly global with Mexico image, Itasa.

ITASA’s vision to establish itself as a global supplier to customers around the world has just witnessed one of its key moments.

On March 1, silicone coating process began at the new plant in Queretaro, Mexico, putting the finishing touch to a complex construction and engineering project which lasted for more than a year and has now been successfully completed.

The clearest evidence of ITASA’s investment strategy to ensure solutions of the highest quality and reliability for its customers is the state-of-the-art silicone coating machine that Bobst has custom-designed for the Queretaro plant.

This machine has been custom-built for ITASA and is designed to meet the specifications of our customers. From this month, it is producing at its maximum speed (1,000 m/min) with solvent-less thermal curing.
The Mexican plant’s entry into full operation, together with the plants in Andoain (Spain), Nilai (Malaysia) and Nidda (Germany), demonstrates ITASA’s truly global production presence.

ITASA sets a new record in the composites sector and establishes itself as a supplier to the marine sector image, Itasa.

ITASA continues its unstoppable growth in the composites sector. Its sales results for 2018 in this area represent an increase of 25% compared to the previous record. This growth can be seen in all sectors that have historically accounted for the majority of sales in this line of business: aerospace, sporting goods, wind energy, automotive and ballistics.

The outlook for the coming years suggests that this upward trend will continue thanks to the growing demand of composites in specialised manufacturing industries.

Their multiple applications and benefits offer ITASA the ability to reach new customers and expand its global reach.

In fact, in the last year, ITASA has established itself in the marine sector, where it began to supply release liners to some of the main manufacturers of composites for producing boat hulls and racing boats or yachts sails. ITASA’s solutions guarantee safety, stability and resistance to temperature variations in the handling of composites.

These are increasingly attractive features to the marine industry because they save time and costs by simply moulding structures with complex geometries, in addition to offering multiple benefits to end users: excellent aerodynamic performance, corrosion resistance, greater durability, among many others.

ITASA and Maria Soell have agreed to join their sales and production forces in the release liner, extrusion and water-based lamination markets. The resulting growth project has a strong global presence and a prominent position to offer the most competitive service in Germany and Europe.

Expanding our GLOBAL FOOTPRINT

ITASA has been growing constantly, in particular over the last 5 years. As the company is working on expanding its global footprint, it also recognizes that its main market remains in Europe.
